Calendar: July

I was watching an episode of "The Office" I'd DVR'ed last night, and decided to quickly whip out out the calendar for July. It should be the busiest month this year to date, with a bunch of live shows on the 10th (see: 'Upcoming Events' at the top of the page), and of course the event of the summer: Wyman's Pond Music Fest on the 31st! Also, my brother in law wants to take my sister on an overnight motorcycle trip, so I am staying over at their house tomorrow night to hang out with their 4 kids. I see the lake in our future, and maybe even the comic shop!

It's really odd that it appears so yellowish. It's on white paper, and I took the photo in my all-white bathroom, in full exposure of the four 60-watt bulbs over the sink, plus the ceiling light. Spooky...

Maybe I'll post the June one when I get a chance, but I didn't even scribble that one out until last week, because of all the move mayhem, and it's pretty lame.

Month Numero Cuatro...

I decided to free-hand the grid this month, instead of using a ruler for penciling (and then inking over the lines). It makes for a certain charm. Add in leftover letter stickers from my niece's birthday gift, and there you go. I just wish there had been a patch of sunlight in my apartment that was window pane lattice-free!

It was sunny and warm both days so far, and I had a fun time driving my parents to Logan Airport yesterday afternoon for their flight to California, to stay with my youngest brother Jason & family for the week. The traffic on the Mass Pike on the way home was ridiculous, but with my windows down and WZBC blasting on my car stereo, it was a minor annoyance. I thoroughly enjoyed both legs of the trip.

Here's to a month of sunny days (and perhaps a day trip to one of the islands...), especially since we got more than our share of April showers in March!

March Out

A low-key month, with some good stuff mixed in. I worked out a lot, and drew even more. My guitar-playing endeavor has hit a road block though. I am not inspired as a true musician ought to be. But it is a new skill, so I am grateful for that, and will proceed at my own pace. I had hope to kayak this month, but the lake was still frozen when I went down there on the 20th (still, it was a nice few hours in the sun, and I had my guitar with me, so it was a good day nonetheless). And last but not least, I got to hang out in Boston twice! With the guys on the 5th, and for the Beach House concert on the 28th:

I went to Boston to see the show (and sold the other 2 unclaimed tickets), but after a fantastic dinner* at 973 Commonwealth I decided to sell my ticket and head home. It's not every day you enter the city with $21 and leave with $34 (dinner was $25 w/tip, and Alewife parking was $7)!

Oh, and I also finalized a deal for a new apartment, which I will move into sometime in late May. It's going to be a bit smaller than where I am now, but it's closer to family, is $150 less per month in rent, and cable & internet are included! Once I find a decent job I'll finally be able to start saving money...

*I highly recommend the 973 Sandwich - grilled chicken, mozzarella, hickory smoked bacon, onion tanglers (super-thin fried onion rings) and pesto mayo, all served on focaccia bread - the BEST sandwich I've had all year!

March Calendar

Here is the hand-drawn calendar for March, hot off the "scribble presses".As you can see, there is a lot of cool stuff already in stone: my Dad's 62nd birthday, and my nephew Cooper's 9th. My first Bruins game in at least 5 years (I'd have to check to be sure). I have 3 tickets to see Beach House at The Paradise Rock Club in Boston. And the first Not Lame Minus gathering of 2010 is this Friday in Cambridge! All of these things (and the inevitable fun not planned yet) combined with the days getting longer, plus Red Sox spring training underway should make March a pretty good month...

Here is February's (blank so far) calendar. Hopefully it gets filled up with more success (and fun) than January! With the Superbowl on Sunday and Mardi Gras on the 16th, it's bound to have some interesting days...

As I said I would at the beginning of the month, here is the posting of the finished (and much scribbled-upon) hand-drawn calendar for the month of January.

I had lofty plans and little cash, so there are many items crossed out. I made it to one show, I spent a lot of time with my parents & siblings, and I worked out more than I practiced my guitar. I read five books. Not bad...

January

Since I didn't receive a calendar for Christmas, and don't have one sitting around, I hand-drew one for this month (with several desirable music dates already filled in). At the end of the month, I will take another picture of it all filled in and crossed out. And if you are interested, check out how I fared with last year's New Year's Resolutions! I'll post this year's sometime next week.
